From our alpacas to your duvet
The basis of our alpaca duvets is the fine wool of our Swiss alpacas..
Once a year, the animals are gently shorn – a natural and necessary process for their well-being.
The fibre obtained is carefully selected and then further processed in SwitzerlandIn this way, high-quality bedding made from pure alpaca fibre is created, combining natural sleeping comfort with regional production.
From the alpaca pasture to the finished duvet, each product is created with care, experience and respect for animals and nature – a transparent product with traceable origin and a genuine Swiss natural product.
Why alpaca duvets?
Alpaca wool is one of the finest natural fibres in the world and has exceptional properties for bedding.
Temperature-regulating
The structure of alpaca wool retains warmth without trapping excess heat, creating a naturally balanced and comfortable sleeping environment.
Breathable
Alpaca fibres can absorb moisture and release it again, keeping the bed climate dry and comfortable.
Very lightweight
Despite their excellent insulation, alpaca duvets are exceptionally lightweight and comfortable to sleep under.
Naturally sustainable
Alpaca wool is a renewable natural fibre and a sustainable alternative to synthetic filling materials.
Advantages of pure alpaca wool in Best Alpaca Bedding™
Our bedding is made from 100% alpaca wool. This unique natural fibre has exceptional properties and ensures natural, comfortable sleep.
Lanolin free
Unlike sheep’s wool, alpaca does not contain lanolin oil. As a result, the duvet cover does not yellow, as is often the case with sheep’s wool duvets.
Very lightweight and warm
Alpaca is up to five times warmer than sheep’s wool. This means that significantly less fibre is required to achieve the same level of warmth.
Excellent insulation
The fibres have fine air spaces that store heat and ensure a balanced sleeping environment.
Moisture-regulating
Alpaca wicks moisture away from the body quickly and supports a dry and comfortable bed environment.
Breathable
The natural fibre structure ensures good air circulation and improves breathability.
Very soft
The smooth structure of the alpaca fibre makes it soft, supple and pleasant on the skin.
Antibacterial and antimicrobial properties
The fibre has natural properties that can inhibit the growth of mould, mildew and bacteria. As a result, pure alpaca bedding remains fresh for a long time.
Hypoallergenic
Alpaca wool is ideal for allergy sufferers. It is resistant to house dust mites and produces very little dust when shaken.
Flame-resistant
Alpaca fibres are difficult to ignite, self-extinguishing and, unlike synthetic fibres, do not produce toxic gases.
Why alpaca wool is particularly suitable for duvets:
- natural temperature regulation
- high breathability
- excellent moisture absorption
- lightweight and at the same time warm
Material comparison
Alpaca compared to other duvet fillings
Different materials offer different properties for the sleeping environment. Alpaca fibres are particularly known for their temperature-regulating and moisture-regulating properties.
Many alpaca duvets on the market contain a proportion of sheep’s wool. Our duvets, on the other hand, are made from 100% Alpaca – without the addition of other fibres.
In addition: our Best Alpaca Bedding™ duvets are manufactured entirely in Switzerland..
