🚚

Short transport distances

Regional sourcing and processing of the fibers support transparent supply chains and help reduce unnecessary transport.

🦙 From alpaca shearing to duvet

Some of the fibers used in our bedding come directly from our own alpacas. The animals are shorn once a year – a necessary measure for their well-being.

This ensures full traceability of the fiber – from the animal to processing and the finished product.

🦙

Alpaca shearing

Our alpacas are shorn once a year. The fiber obtained forms the basis of our bedding.

🧶

Cleaning and processing

The raw fiber is carefully cleaned and mechanically processed to preserve its natural properties as much as possible.

🇨🇭

Duvet production

In collaboration with Best Alpaca Bedding, the fiber is processed into high-quality alpaca duvets.

🐾Responsibility towards animals and nature

Respectful treatment of animals and nature is the foundation of our work. As Züchter und Halter von Alpakas we take responsibility for the well-being of our animals and for the careful use of the natural resources entrusted to us.

Our alpacas live in a natural environment, with ample space and a social herd structure. Species-appropriate care, attentive handling, and the healthy development of the animals are our highest priorities.

The fibers used in our bedding are a natural result of this way of keeping animals. Alpacas are shorn once a year – a necessary measure for their well-being. Shearing is carried out professionally and with great care, ensuring the animals remain healthy and protected.

As farmers, we experience on a daily basis how closely animal care, landscape, and the environment are connected. For us, sustainability goes beyond the choice of natural materials – it also means acting responsibly towards:

  • animal welfare
  • pastures and landscape
  • natural resources

A large part of the fibers used in our bedding comes directly from our own alpacas. This allows us to know the exact origin of each fiber and understand the conditions under which it was produced.

Alpaka Duvets Nachhaltigkeit
Sustainability of our alpaca duvets

This close connection between animal care, agriculture, and the final product is a key part of the sustainability of our Best Alpaca Bedding™ Alpaca duvets.

🇨🇭Regional production and transparent origin in Switzerland

Sustainability begins with the origin of the fibers. As alpaca breeders , we know the source of part of our raw materials from our own animal husbandry and many years of experience.

A portion of the fibers used comes directly from our own alpacas. In addition, we work with selected alpaca farms in Switzerland that are part of the Best Alpaca Bedding™ network and share our common values regarding species-appropriate animal husbandry and responsible agriculture.

The further processing of the fibers takes place in specialized facilities with experience in the production of high-quality natural bedding. Through this collaboration, a regional value chain is created with short transport routes as well as transparent and traceable origin – an essential contribution to the sustainability of our alpaca duvets.

The philosophy of Best Alpaca Bedding™  also originated from this agricultural foundation. It stands for products whose origin lies in animal husbandry and in the careful selection of the fibers – from the alpaca through processing to the finished duvet, and thus for a holistically conceived sustainability.

REGIONAL SOURCING

Benefits of regional processing

  • Fiber from our own alpacas
  • Partnerships with Swiss alpaca farms
  • Regional processing of the fibers
  • Short transport distances
  • Transparent supply chain
  • High quality control

🧶 Gentle processing of the fibers

The quality of a duvet does not begin with the finished filling, but already with the careful processing of the fibers. Our alpaca duvets are manufactured in Switzerland under controlled conditions.

After shearing, the alpaca fibers are cleaned and prepared for further processing. It is essential to preserve the natural structure of the fiber as much as possible. Gentle processing methods ensure that the fibers retain their quality and natural properties.

Processing takes place in specialized partners with expertise in high-quality natural bedding. There, the fibers are carefully crafted into filling material for duvets.

The careful processing of the raw fiber is an essential part of the Sustainability of our alpaca duvets. It helps preserve the quality of the materials over time and ensures long-lasting, high-quality bedding.

Sustainable alternative to down and synthetic materials

When choosing a duvet, sustainability plays an important role. Alpaca duvets offer a natural alternative to down and synthetic materials.

🪶

Down

Natural, but not always transparent

Down is considered a classic natural material, but is often criticized in terms of animal welfare and origin. Even with high-quality products, the origin is not always fully traceable.

Sustainability: natural filling, but depending on origin with open questions regarding transparency and animal welfare.

🧪

Synthetic fibers

Practical, but environmentally burdensome

Synthetic filling materials are usually based on petroleum and are energy-intensive to produce. They are not biodegradable and contribute to environmental pollution in the long term.

Sustainability: functional in everyday use, but with disadvantages in terms of raw material base, degradability, and environmental impact.

🦙

Alpaca duvets

Natural, durable, and traceable
