Why Professional Alpaca Shearing Is Important

Annual alpaca shearing is an important part of alpaca care and contributes significantly to the animals’ well-being. Alpacas do not shed their fleece naturally and therefore rely on proper shearing.

Professional alpaca shearing helps prevent heat stress during the warmer months, allows regular checks of skin and fleece, and enables early detection of parasites or matting.

At the same time, it ensures that the alpaca fibre is obtained cleanly and in high quality for further processing.

Shearing Service

Shearing Day Process – Professionally Organised

Our shearing day is clearly structured and has been refined over the years. An experienced team ensures that the shearing is carried out efficiently, professionally and with a calm workflow.

Professional Shearing System

Shearing is carried out by a professional shearer from New Zealand, supported by a synchronised “Headman”.

Together, they ensure a calm and safe process throughout the shearing.

Efficient and Professional Shearing

A well-coordinated and experienced team enables a structured process and ensures that multiple animals can be shorn without unnecessary waiting times.

The efficient execution supports a calm and professional workflow throughout the entire shearing day.

Clean and Professional Shearing Result

The animals are shorn evenly and professionally:

  • clean cut along saddle and neck
  • straight “post-style” legs
  • wedge-shaped tail
  • well-groomed head and cheeks

Fibre Handling and Additional Care

The shorn alpaca fibre is carefully sorted and packed separately, making it immediately ready for further processing.

On request, nails and teeth can also be checked and trimmed during the shearing day.
